Frost, not ink
On glass the beam neither oxidises nor ablates — it fractures the surface at microscopic scale, and the scattered light reads as a bright white frost. Depth is a function of power and pass count and the usable window is narrow: too hot and the rim chips, too cold and the art looks thin and grey under a bar light. We run deep, which is why a crest holds its edge and a rope border stays a rope border rather than a smudge.
Two positions, one glass
Most engravers charge for a second face because the glass has to be re-fixtured between passes. We include it. A car marque on the front and the model script on the back, a bar name on the front and a crest on the reverse, a company mark on the front and the recipient’s name behind it — that second face is usually what turns a promotional tumbler into something somebody keeps.
Insulated steel tumblers are marked on a rotary axis for a full 360° wrap. Crystal rocks glasses are marked flat, one or two positions.
