The fine print, in plain English
Shipping, Returns, Privacy & Terms
Engraving is permanent, so the rules around it matter more than they do for ordinary retail. Everything below is written to be read, not to be survived.

Shipping
| Rate | $9 flat, tracked |
| Free shipping | On any single item priced $95 and over |
| Production time | 5–7 business days from proof approval |
| Transit time | 3–5 business days |
| Where we ship | United States only |
| Local pickup | Sugar Hill, GA by arrangement |
The clock starts when you approve the proof, not when you pay. Every order gets a to-scale digital proof, usually within one business day. If we do not hear back, the order waits — we will not guess at a spelling.
Bulk orders scale with quantity: roughly 7–10 business days at 10–24 pieces, 10–14 at 25–49, and two to three weeks at 50 or more. If you have a hard event date, say so in the quote request and we schedule production backward from it.
Knives. Bladed goods ship to buyers aged 18 or over, and we cannot ship them to every address in the United States. A small number of states and cities restrict assisted-opening knives or particular blade lengths. Restricted destinations are blocked at checkout rather than cancelled afterward, so if your order goes through, it can be delivered. We do not sell automatic, OTF or switchblade knives at all.
Returns on personalized goods
If we got it wrong, we fix it at our cost. Wrong spelling against your approved proof, wrong placement, a flaw in the mark, damage in transit, or a defect in the item itself — tell us within 14 days of delivery with a photograph and we remake it or refund you in full. You choose which. We pay the return shipping.
If the engraving matches your approved proof, it is not returnable. That is not us being difficult; a knife with someone else’s name on it has no second buyer. This is why the proof exists and why we will not start without it.
Check the proof carefully. Approving it approves the spelling, the punctuation, the dates and the artwork exactly as shown. We reproduce what you approve, including a typo.
| Our error | Remake or full refund, we pay shipping both ways |
| Damaged in transit | Remake or full refund — photograph the packaging |
| Defective item | Remake or full refund |
| Correct per approved proof | Not returnable |
| Changed your mind | Not returnable once engraved |
| Unengraved stock item | 30 days, unused, in original packaging |
| Cancellation | Free any time before you approve the proof |
| Window | 14 days from delivery |
Privacy
We never see your card details. Payments are processed by Stripe, which handles the card data directly. Black Anvil Engraving does not receive, store or have access to your card number at any point.
What we do hold is what you gave us to fill the order: your name, email, shipping address, the engraving text, and any artwork you sent. We keep it for as long as we need it to make and ship the order, to honour a warranty claim, and to satisfy tax record-keeping requirements.
We do not sell your information, and we do not share it with anyone except the people needed to complete your order — the payment processor and the shipping carrier.
Want a copy of what we hold, or want it deleted? Email us and we will do it. Deletion may mean we can no longer honour a warranty claim on that order, since the proof record goes with it.
| Card data | Handled by Stripe — never touches us |
| What we keep | Name, email, address, engraving text, artwork |
| Shared with | Stripe and the shipping carrier only |
| Sold to anyone | No |
| Your artwork | Yours. We use it for your order only. |
| Showing your work | Only with your permission, asked separately |
| Access or deletion | Email us, no charge |
Terms of sale
Who we are. Black Anvil Engraving, Sugar Hill, Georgia. Contact: hello@blackanvilengraving.com.
Orders. Your order is an offer to buy. It becomes a contract when we send your proof and you approve it. We may decline an order — if artwork infringes someone else’s rights, if the destination is restricted, or if the request is something we are not equipped to do well.
Artwork you send us. You confirm you own it or have permission to use it. We will not knowingly engrave a trademark, logo or copyrighted image for someone with no right to it. If a claim arises from artwork you supplied, that is yours to answer.
Prices and stock. Prices are in US dollars and may change without notice; the price at checkout is the price you pay. Occasionally a blank goes out of stock after you have ordered — we will tell you and offer a substitute, a wait, or a refund.
Sales tax is added where required by law.
What we are responsible for. If we get your order wrong, we remake it or refund it. Our liability is limited to what you paid for that order. We are not liable for indirect losses — a missed event date, a lost opportunity, a disappointed recipient. Nothing here limits any right you have that cannot legally be limited.
Knives are tools, and they are sharp. Buying one means you are at least 18 and that owning and carrying it is legal where you are. Local knife law is your responsibility, not ours. Use sensibly.
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Georgia.
