About this piece
The Kershaw Misdirect is the knife we reach for first on corporate runs, and the reason is metallurgy rather than marketing. Its handle is bead-blasted stainless steel, and bead-blasted stainless is the single best surface a fiber laser can work on. The beam grows an oxide layer straight out of the steel and the mark comes up a warm bronze that looks like it was always part of the knife. Anodized aluminum handles — the Blur, the Leek — cannot do that. On aluminum the laser burns the dye away and you get a pale grey scratch.
It is also the blank that makes volume arithmetic work. A hundred-piece named program on the Misdirect stays inside a budget a marketing manager can actually sign, which is simply not true of the premium aluminium-handled models. We engrave a company wordmark on the show side, the recipient’s name on the reverse, and optionally a motif on the BlackWash blade itself.
The knife arrives in its manufacturer box, or in an etched presentation box marked with the same artwork. Bulk orders are individually labeled by recipient so nobody sorts anything at the booth.
